Maria helped her mother who had Stage 4 cancer of the brain. The doctor told her that she was suffering from an extremely serious health condition. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. "I'd felt lightheaded while on set, and was suffering from headaches," she told PEOPLE in its exclusive feature. "My speech became slurred and I was having difficulty understanding the transcript". Menounos was diagnosed with a meningioma-size brain tumor. A MRI confirmed the diagnosis. Menounos booked an appointment with her mother's doctor famous surgeon Dr. Keith L. Black who scheduled the surgery for June 8-her 39th birthday. Dr. Black said it was 98 percent benign. But, we won't be able to know until the time they reach. The complex operation took about seven hours and the doctor. Black was capable of removing 99.9 percent of the benign cancer. The doctor. Black said it was possible for the tumor to be resurrected in between 6 and 7 percent of cases. But I will be willing to take this chance any time. Menounos returned home after her hospital stay for six days. Menounos is recuperating and enjoying the company of Litsa, her mother. Litsa's most recent MRI confirms she's not suffering from cancer.
